In 2007 I left a well paying job of 13 years earning an annual income of $185,000 to open my own business selling diamonds and jewelry online. The next two years were the hardest years of my life. I amassed over $200,000 in business related debt in addition to all of the personal debt I already had. “Luckily,” my wife was working full-time as a partner in a public accounting firm. Her workload increased from day to day. It became standard for her to leave the house at 6AM and return home at Midnight or later.  I relocated my office to our basement to cut costs and keep the business alive. The silver lining in this black cloud was that all the while I was able to spend quality time with our three kids. However, my wife was slowly collapsing under the stress from work and our personal finances. Our financial straits were eating her alive. Needless to say, the impact to our relationship was devastating. It was early June 2009 when a very close friend of mine talked some sense into me about how to turn my life around. He said that success does not create happiness but rather happiness creates success. As I began focusing on this thought on a daily basis, new people and opportunities came in to my life. I saw this opportunity and knew this was the answer to all of my troubles. I made a conscious decision not to share this with anyone I knew. My wife and I had lost a lot of money on business opportunities, MLM’s and Get rich Quick scams in the past, that I simply didn’t want anyone to broadcast any negativity in my direction.
